“I’m yelling at her butt. I want to tell you the reason why for the first time: honestly, I love butt! I literally love butt. What can I say?”
Thus did “Gangnam Style” gangsta Psy reveal to MTV News the ridiculous reason why he’s yelling at a posse of beautiful women and their booties, in one of the most talked-about scenes of the most-watched video in the universe.
Here are a few other secrets of the vid Psy revealed to MTV:
In the opening, where Psy’s lounging at what looks like the beach but which turns out to be the local playground, his rap attack is suddenly hijacked by a tiny-tyke dancer:
“See this kid, he is 5 years old,” Psy confessed. “As you have America’s Got Talent, we have Korea’s Got Talent, and he was from there, so I picked him. And he did all the Michael Jackson moves when he was 3 without any education.”
For the elevator scene, Psy hoodwinked Korean comic Noh Hong-cheol to boogie in and dirty-dance:
“He is a huge comedian in Korea,” said Psy. “We were suddenly getting on the elevator to move to the next spot and I asked him, ‘Hey, why don’t we make some film in the elevator?’ And he did the dance move! This move is really dirty and really famous in Korea so I said, ‘I’m gonna go underneath between your legs,’ so it was really ad-libbed.”
Later, Psy’s rapping up a storm as the scene zooms out to show him seated on the loo, caught with his pants down.
“They filmed this and I said, ‘All right, I’ll do this to satisfy you and then I’m going to take off my pants! And then you’re going to zoom out and it’s going to be a toilet!’ Isn’t this lovely?”
“I love this scene!” Psy laughed.
“Gangnam Style” has been parodied by everyfreakingbody and their grandmas. A group of El Monte, California lifeguards were fired for posting a “Lifeguard Style” viral video.
The fired lifeguards launched their own Facebook page, “Bring Back The 14 El Monte Lifeguards.”
A day after launching it, the page had 14,000 fans.
