So who’s Andreas Moe, you might ask?

Well, his looks have been compared to James Dean, his guitar playing has been compared to John Mayer, but Andreas Moe’s voice and songwriting are something to which nothing can be compared.

Andreas Moe is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Stockholm, Sweden, and he’s tearing up the charts all over Europe at the moment. Plus, he’s like, just a bit gorgeous, isn’t he.

His six-track EP ‘Collecting Sunlight’ was released last month and is available to download on iTunes and Amazon.

Andreas had his first big break in 2011 when he was asked to feature on international DJ Avicii’s world-wide smash-hit single ‘Fade into Darkness’, and the buzz furher increased when he sang and co-wrote the Gold selling single “Long Time” with Swedish DJ, John de Sohn.

Since then, Andreas has continued to collaborate with big-name DJ’s around the world including Norman Doray, Fedde Le Grand and Eddie Thoneick.

We caught up with Andreas this week and asked him a few questions:

OnePopz: Who were your musical idols when you were younger?

Andreas: I worshipped Iron Maiden and Kiss (and basically every song with a guitar solo in it!) I also went through quite an epic MJ stage – that lasted quite a long time haha!

OnePopz: Which is your favourite song you’ve written?

Andreas: I think Snow is the song that I’m most proud of! The lyrics, melody and production just came together perfectly and looking back, it was a really emotional track to finish. I wrote it last year with Hiten Bharadia, Niclas Lundin and Maria Marcus who are all close friends of mine, and I was in quite a bad place at the time – so it’s quite nice to listen to it now I’ve come out of that. And maybe it’s got something to so with the fact that I get to play guitar in it! :D

OnePopz: Did you watch the Eurovision Song Contest?

Andreas: I watched a bit of it! If I’m totally honest – I’m not a huge fan of the show – but I can respect it for it’s history and some of the acts that have made careers out of it! In Sweden it’s a huge deal so I’m so happy that we won – I worked with Loreen a while back and she’s so talented!

OnePopz: Any chance you might perform the Swedish song for next year?

Andreas: No I don’t think so – it’s not really for me and to be honest I don’t think I’m really for ‘it’ haha! I can see why new artists would enter though – It’s a great platform to break new acts.

OnePopz: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Andreas: I’d love to be in a position where I get to play arenas.. that would be amazing! I know it’s a big goal I know but I do believe its achievable – I just have a lot of hard work to do first :) Other than that I see myself touring a lot and just about to release my 3rd album!

OnePopz: What do you think about the whole Leona Lewis / Syco affair?

Andreas: I think it’s a bit weird. I don’t have all the information and facts but from what I’ve heard I think it’s a shame.

OnePopz: Did it annoy you that “Fade into Darkness” didn’t get released in the UK?

Andreas: Well, I lost a lot of exposure in the country that I’m really trying hard to break into – so of course I was really disappointed. It was a curveball, but it’s experiences like that that help me to write and spur me on to try even harder, and it proved to me that I must really love this business to continue being so faithful to it! haha : )

OnePopz: We love your animated video for “Collecting Sunlight”, seeing you animated is great. Was this an idea of yours to have it like this?

Andreas: We’re a whole team working with my project so there were a few key people involved! My team are amazing and everyone involved is so creative! I think it was one of my managers that had the initial idea and it kind of grew from there – in the end it was the only way we could truly show the collecting of sunlight in a way I felt was true to the project. The guy that animated the video is this super-talented dude called Christian West and he’s like, 20! He did such a great job.

OnePopz: Do you have a girlfriend at the moment?

Andreas: Not right now… :)

OnePopz: Finally, what has been your favourite song of 2012 so far?

Andreas: Wow thats such a tough question cause there are quite a few already! I think I’ll go with the UK band LAWSON and their song ‘When She Was Mine’ – I love the track and the guys too – they have been good friends of mine for a while now so I was really proud of them when this track did so well!

As a bonus, Andreas very nicely recorded an acoustic version of Lawson’s ‘When She Was Mine’ for us, and you can watch it below. Warning, it’s a bit brilliant!
